A striking and sensitively executed original life study of a female nude, drawn from the back, attributed to Colin Moss, one of the most respected British draughtsmen of the 20th century. Executed most likely in charcoal on paper, the work demonstrates Moss’s assured line, tonal control, and deep understanding of anatomy—hallmarks of his lifelong dedication to figurative art.

The drawing is beautifully presented in an original antique Montparnasse frame and is ready to hang.

Charcoal on Paper, 79 x 64cm

Colin Moss was a highly regarded British artist, draughtsman and teacher, closely associated with Suffolk and East Anglia. Born in Ipswich, he trained at Plymouth College of Art and the Royal College of Art, where he studied under figures including William Rothenstein and Stanley Spencer. Renowned for his exceptional draughtsmanship, Moss maintained a lifelong commitment to figurative art, particularly life drawing and the human form.  His work is represented in major UK collections, including the British Museum and the Tate Archive.

Please be aware that all items in the collection are either vintage or second-hand and are offered as such. While I strive to emphasise significant flaws, please anticipate minor imperfections that are consistent with the age and prior use of each piece.
